5 Must-Visit Vegan Restaurants in the Klang Valley

For the average human, there are virtually no downsides to going vegan- it’s affordable, convenient in this day and age, good for you, and good for the environment. A plant-based diet, and the means to switch to it, has become so accessible to us.

Of course, check with your doctor or main healthcare provider should you have any concerns in swapping to more greens should you be immunocompromised, chronically ill or just have concerns. However, if you have the green light for the green foods, here are five vegan restaurants you can’t miss out on if you’re in the Klang Valley!

1. SALA

What started off as a humble store in Hartamas has now expanded into a total of seven branches across Kuala Lumpur. They’re the pioneers of vegan cuisine locally, serving up casual Mexican food like burritos and tacos.

They also serve up local, veganised food like laksa, nasi lemak and bakso, which by no means compromises on quality. They also have desserts and vegan offerings from their partners.

2. SUPE

If you have a more Asian palette, head to this vegan Japanese restaurant that has one branch in Bukit Bintang, and another in Georgetown, Penang. Their sushi rolls don’t have anything artificial, and their ramen is everything you’re looking for- hearty, warm and delicious.

For the quality of the food, their prices are surprisingly affordable and accessible to all. Most importantly, their food is available for delivery so that you can enjoy a yummy, plant-based meal from the comfort of your own home.

What Malaysian doesn’t enjoy rendang? Okay, maybe some of us can’t take the heat. But for those who aren’t willing to leave rendang behind to go fully vegan, rejoice! Mushroom Lah is a mushroom rendang that you can pair with lemang, ketupat, or even rice.

You can make an order on their Instagram page for a pack to be delivered to you- just heat it up and it’s ready to eat. For a physical experience, they have a pop up at Tiffin at the Yard with other vegan restaurants that you can try while you’re there!

They also have a number of gluten free options and a keto option or two as well! With four locations in KL and two in Singapore, vegan ice-cream is here to stay, and Kind Kones is about to lead the way (ooh, a rhyme!).

5. The Ganga Cafe

Review of The Ganga Cafe, Kuala Lumpur — FoodAdvisor

One misconception people have about vegan food is that it’s less flavourful, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Stop by one of The Ganga Cafe’s three branches to experience flavour-packed Indian food! They have both vegan and vegetarian options, and gluten-free options too.

Most Indian restaurants have a vegetarian section, so you’ll be getting all the good stuff at The Ganga Cafe- they know what to do, and how to do it best!
